My child won't listen to me!
What behaviours do parents most often find challenging?
Parents often seek support when they notice some of the following difficulties in their child:
- Withdrawing from others or finding it hard to make and maintain friendships
- Intense emotional outbursts, such as screaming, crying, or throwing objects
- Difficulty following instructions or responding to adult requests
- Frequent arguing, testing boundaries, or deliberately provocative behaviour
- Physical or verbal aggression (for example, hitting, biting, or using hurtful language)
- Difficulties with attention, concentration, or high levels of activity
- Struggles with daily routines, such as getting ready in the morning, eating, or sleeping
- Strong oppositional behaviour, including saying “no” or resisting requests even when it may not be helpful
- Excessive clinginess, difficulty separating from caregivers, or strong separation anxiety
